About this position

The Team Leader - Urban Forest will lead a skilled team in establishing and maintaining the City’s urban forest and streetscapes areas, providing expert advice, while championing safety and delivering operational excellence.
In this position, the successful candidate will:
Plan and implement operational maintenance activities, including the development and adherence to work schedules.
Undertake pre-start checks, update maintenance schedules, and report on the completion of works.
Support staff development, manage performance and growth under the guidance of the Streetscapes Supervisor.
Take ownership of team and public safety, ensuring all works are carried out with vigilance, compliance and care.
Manage risks by promoting safe work practices, performing preventative checks and maintenance, and reporting hazards
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
Experience leading a horticulture or arboriculture maintenance team.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member.
Strong problem-solving skills in streetscape maintenance.
Ability to lead by example, empower and motivate teams.
Essential requirements
Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, Arboriculture or equivalent.
Current MR driver’s licence
White Card
Current National Police clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
Desirable requirements:
Operator tickets for operating machinery such as Loader, Forklift and Chainsaw.
Basic Worksite Traffic Management.
Chemical Application and Spraying Certification, Prepare and Apply Chemicals AHCCHM303A.
