Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is seeking a motivated Community Energy & Climate Officer to join our Strong Country – Climate Action Unit. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful climate and energy work that aligns with Bunurong values, culture, and aspirations.

About Bunurong Land Council

BLCAC is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation. We are responsible for protecting Bunurong cultural heritage, managing land and water on Country, and advocating for community empowerment.

Our work spans Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, and the Bass Coast, ensuring the voices and traditions of our ancestors continue to be recognised, respected, and upheld for future generations.

About the Role

As the Community Energy & Climate Officer, you will work closely with the Climate Action and Renewables Liaison Officer to connect the Bunurong community with renewable energy and climate-related projects.

This role will:

Share information about renewable energy and climate initiatives

Advocate for Bunurong-led energy projects and priorities

Help identify future opportunities that benefit the Bunurong community

Attend community events, meetings, and stakeholder sessions

Support learning and engagement in energy, environment, and policy

No prior experience in energy or climate is required—just a strong interest in learning and contributing to the wellbeing of Bunurong Country and people.

Key Responsibilities

Engage with the Bunurong community to raise awareness of energy and climate projects

Organise and support community events, workshops, and meetings

Assist in the development of Bunurong-led renewable energy and climate initiatives

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and energy companies

Learn about energy, environmental protection, and relevant policies

Support with reports, funding applications, and project updates

Key Accountabilities

Maintain productive working relationships across BLCAC teams

Support community-based energy planning and implementation

Accurately record information to ensure compliance with legislation and policy

Demonstrate commitment to a culturally safe, ethical, and respectful workplace

Actively pursue learning opportunities and contribute to a knowledge-sharing culture

Uphold confidentiality and privacy in all community engagement and project work

What You Bring

Qualifications and Experience

Aboriginality – Bunurong Nation (Identified position)

Current VIC Driver’s Licence

Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Confidence using Microsoft Office

Interest or experience in energy, climate, or environmental projects (desirable but not essential)
