About the role

Namatjira Haven is seeking an Aboriginal Male to be a Support Worker in our team at Alstonville, NSW. This is a casual position that will involve providing high-quality support and care to our Aboriginal male clients. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping our clients achieve improved health and wellbeing within the community. You must be an Aboriginal or Torres Islander man to qualify for this position.

What you'll be doing

Assisting and mentoring clients with daily living activities such as household tasks, meal preparation, medications and maintaining and caring for the environment in mostly weekends and evening roles

Providing support and engaging with clients in physical fitness, cultural and recreational activities

Supporting a care plan for clients' needs and working closely with other team members

Maintaining detailed client records and reporting on client progress in a database

Promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all clients, other team members and visitors

What we're looking for

A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of the men and a commitment to person-centred care

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients

Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to vulnerable people in health

A relevant qualification (e.g. Certificate III in Community Services or AOD) or willingness to obtain one

A current driver's licence and access to reliable transportation and an LR license will be required

Secure local accommodation or ability to obtain prior to commencement

Current First Aid certificate
