About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality learning in Business and Legal Studies at Peregian Beach College. The successful applicant will implement curriculum and assessment aligned with the QCAA syllabuses and V9.0 Australian Curriculum, fostering students’ understanding of how individuals, businesses, and legal systems interact within our society. You will inspire students to think critically, apply problem-solving and decision-making skills, and explore ethical and sustainable business and legal practices. This role offers the opportunity to prepare students for future pathways in commerce, law, and entrepreneurship while cultivating informed, responsible, and active thinkers.
Key Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will:
- Have recognised tertiary qualifications in Teaching.
- Be a qualified teacher with current QCT registration.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, colleagues and the community.
- Engage in professional learning.
- Have an understanding of students and how they learn.
- Have knowledge of the V9.0 Australian Curriculum.
- Have the ability to plan for and implement effective teaching and learning.
- Have the ability to create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments.
- Have the ability to assess, provide feedback and report on learning.
The Key Responsibility Areas
- To develop, review and teach content relevant to secondary students according to Australian curriculum using creative and innovative initiatives.
- To be responsible for producing, implementing and reviewing curriculum for secondary students in order to provide a well-coordinated and differentiated programme of study, including strategies to enhance teaching and learning.
- To assess, record and report the performance of students at every stage, in line with College Assessment Policy, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
- To write quality subject reports meeting deadlines as published in the academic calendar.
- To be responsible for helping to manage the use of resources and equipment ensuring that good practice is followed according to the College's Workplace Health and Safety procedures and prepare and implement Risk Assessments.
- Within these main responsibilities, the teacher is expected to uphold the policies of the College ensuring, for example, that expectations of student's conduct are consistent with the College's Behaviour and Discipline policy, so that good order and discipline are maintained.
- To help ensure teaching areas within the department are well organised and space is utilised to its potential.
Other Duties
- To attend regular staff meetings, professional development days and college functions as per the year's calendar.
- To take part in the Professional Development programme including the opportunity for a personal appraisal and the participation in the appraisal of other teachers.
- To attend parent/teacher evenings and communicate and consult with parents of students when necessary, throughout the year.
- To record student results, write programmes and communicate with parents, students and staff on the College Student Management System.
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
- Maintain a current First Aid qualification (if requested by the Head of College).
