Financial Risk Manager - NSW Government
Location: Parramatta + WFH (hybrid)
Pay Rate: Up to $1,100 per day + Super
Assignment Duration: Anticipated until 26th October 2026 with potential to extend
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Financial Risk Manager to play a key role in one of NSW’s most significant housing programs — a major, state-wide initiative designed to expand access to social and affordable housing.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive professional with strong experience in program or project risk management, particularly within infrastructure or government environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the consistent application of risk management frameworks, tools, and processes across projects and programs.
- Provide expert advice to project teams in identifying, analysing, and responding to strategic and operational risks.
- Maintain and coordinate updates to risk registers, ensuring timely escalation and alignment with mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate and co-facilitate risk workshops and reviews, ensuring informed delivery decisions.
- Prepare high-quality risk reports and dashboards for senior leadership and governance forums.
- Promote a risk-aware culture through mentoring and capability building within delivery teams.
- Contribute to assurance activities and ensure alignment of project-level risks with program-level objectives.
Key Challenges
- Supporting risk management across a high volume of concurrent construction projects with diverse delivery models.
- Enhancing consistency and quality in risk practices across multiple stakeholders and delivery partners.
- Balancing engagement with delivery teams while maintaining independence and objectivity.
- Promoting a strong risk culture in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment.
About You
You’re a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of risk and assurance frameworks, ideally gained within large infrastructure or government programs. You have strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, and you’re comfortable working in complex, fast-moving environments where your judgment makes a measurable impact.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in risk management across large-scale programs or projects.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality reports and dashboards.
- Familiarity with public sector or infrastructure delivery environments.
- Ability to influence and mentor teams to uplift risk capability.
