Not-for-Profit Organisation | Ultimo
Full time, on-site role
Join a purpose-driven organisation in Ultimo and play a key role in maintaining strong financial operations that support meaningful community outcomes. This is a hands-on accounting position suited to someone who enjoys variety, collaboration, and being part of a close-knit team that values quality and commitment.
About the Role
Reporting to the CFO, this position is responsible for managing the organisation’s day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the full financial cycle. You’ll liaise directly with external auditors at year end, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a smooth audit process.
While the organisation is small, the finance function is active and fast-paced. There are peak periods—particularly around month-end, year-end, and audit time—when flexibility and a willingness to put in additional hours will be required.
This role provides indirect supervision of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll staff, stepping in as needed to maintain continuity during leave or high-volume periods. For the right person, there is a clear pathway to develop into the Finance Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end and year-end financial reports and reconciliations
- Liaise with auditors and coordinate year-end documentation and schedules
- Oversee AP/AR and Payroll functions, providing guidance and hands-on support as needed
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency
About You
- CA or CPA qualified
- Demonstrated experience liaising with auditors and managing end-of-year financial processes
- Hands-on accounting experience across AP, AR, and Payroll
- Strong attention to detail and an organised, proactive working style
- Comfortable working in a small team where collaboration and flexibility are key
- Prior experience in the not-for-profit sector is an advantage but not essential
Why You’ll Love This Role
- Work directly with an experienced CFO who supports professional growth and development
- Be part of a small, values-led organisation making a tangible community impact
- Full-time, on-site role in a vibrant Ultimo location close to public transport (light rail & Buses)
- A stable, rewarding opportunity with genuine career progression potential
