Your role
Homes NSW is a division of the Department of Communities and Justice. It brings together the housing and homelessness functions of the Department of Communities and Justice, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Aboriginal Housing Office and key worker housing functions from across government all under one roof.
Homes NSW leads work to deliver more social and affordable housing, end the cycle of homelessness, and deliver quality public housing to our 262,000 tenants across NSW.
The role is responsible for supporting the Department's statutory and financial reporting obligations. Assist with the delivery of statutory financial statements and other matters related to the financial reporting function that accurately reflect the organisation's true financial position.
What you'll do
The role supports and advises the Financial Management and Reporting team on key contemporary statutory and financial reporting issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain and manage accounting and financial information to facilitate a robust and consistent approach to financial management and reporting across the Department ensuring compliance with the Department's objectives, government policy, accounting standards and statutory requirements
 - Undertake analysis and review of information to provide advice on critical issues and risks related to financial reporting obligations operational accounting, and related policy areas to generate strategic insights that support the business to optimise its financial position, protocols and internal processes.
 - Support the financial management and reporting function to ensure a high quality of financial reporting and accounting services are delivered with strategic alignment to the department's and the Cluster's objectives.
 - Support the review, development and implementation of financial reporting systems including identification and mitigation of risks.
 - Support key internal and external stakeholder relationships to facilitate commitment to strategies and programs and provide financial reporting support to allow these stakeholders to meet financial obligations and priorities.
 - Support the implementation of continuous improvements in financial reporting and accounting services and processes including recommendations identified through internal and external audits
 
What we are looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
 - Hold current membership of an accounting body - CPA, CA or equivalent
 - Project Management experience working across various stakeholders
 - Experience in the building and construction industry would be beneficial
