Your next career opportunity
As a Laboratory Officer at the University of Melbourne's Dookie campus, you will play a crucial role in supporting both teaching and research laboratories. You will provide expert technical support, manage laboratory resources, and ensure compliance with safety standards. This position offers you the chance to collaborate with academic staff and contribute to innovative service improvements, enhancing educational and research outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide Proficient Technical Expertise: Offer advice on laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety to academic staff and students.

• Maintain Laboratory Resources: Oversee the inventory, maintenance, and supply of laboratory and glasshouse equipment and materials.

• Ensure Compliance and Safety: Uphold health and safety regulations, prepare SOPs, and manage chemical hazards.

• Collaborate and Innovate: Work with faculty and external suppliers to improve service delivery and develop new processes.

You may be a great fit if:
You are an adaptable and skilled professional with a degree in laboratory operations or equivalent experience, possessing strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

You may also:

• Have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in laboratory operations.

• Possess knowledge of scientific procedures and equipment troubleshooting.

• Demonstrate expertise in health and safety, especially chemical hazard management.

• Exhibit strong organisational and communication skills with attention to detail.

• Be flexible, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new skills and tasks.
