About the Role

This full-time role provides an opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with irrigation experience to join our team at Piangil, a 1566-hectare almond farm. As the Irrigation 2IC, you will support the Irrigation Manager in the day-to-day irrigation operations necessary for optimal almond growth. This includes assisting with irrigation scheduling, data collection, fertiliser applications, and supervising the irrigation team to ensure productivity and efficiency on the farm.

What you'll be doing

Support the Irrigation Manager in gathering and analysing irrigation data to ensure ideal irrigation levels for the almond growth cycle.

Assist in scheduling and applying irrigation and fertiliser, while maintaining infrastructure.

Operate key irrigation equipment, including pumping systems, PLCs, irrigation controllers, and other system components.

Lead and supervise an irrigation team to maintain efficient operation and resolve issues.

Monitor and report wet areas, collaborating with the Irrigation Manager to implement corrective measures.

What We're Looking For

Minimum 3-5 years previous experience as an Irrigation 2IC or extensive experience as a Farm Leading Hand, ideally with expertise in almond orchards, tree nuts, or perennial horticultural/viticultural crops.

Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively lead a team.

A current driving licence.
