Lifestyle Coordinator | Pinangba Services | Star of the Seas Elders Village, Thursday Island

Employment Term: Permanent Full Time (76 hours a fortnight)

Location: Thursday Island, Star of the Seas Elders Village

Remuneration: $35.86 + 12% Super + Salary packaging & meal and entertainment benefits

We are seeking a Lifestyle Coordinator at our beautiful Thursday Island Aged Care facility, Star of the Seas. A colourful island paradise, rich with culture and history, offering a community feel and positive team environment!

Services for Star of the Seas are delivered by Pinangba, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led arm of UnitingCare. The foundations of Pinangba are built from our cultural identity and strong community relationships and partnerships.

We deliver culturally informed services through innovative service delivery to progress Self-Determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through unique and holistic care; prioritising social justice to nurture physical, mental and spiritual healing.

Your part in our Pinangba team

Working in the role of Lifestyle Coordinator, no two days will be the same. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring client care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated in accordance with Pinangba and the funding program model, taking into consideration each client’s physical, spiritual, social, emotional and clinical needs, encouraging clients/representative participation.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

Oversee the day to day operations and effective implementation of social and lifestyle programs, whilst being a key member of the leadership team. Building on the strengths, capacity and goals of individuals Creatively addressing barriers and encouraging actions that promote independence. Ensuring lifestyle and socialisation activities are targeted towards a specific goal or desired outcome and are achieved in line with expectations of clients and residents

What makes a difference for us?

Minimum 2 years of aged care experience (highly desirable)

Cert IV Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent or Diploma in Community Services OR working towards completing

Excellent computer literacy skills

Demonstrated understanding of the Strengthened Aged Care standards

Experience in living and working across a diverse cultural group

NDIS Workers Screening Check

Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies

Prior experience leading a lifestyle team within Aged Care will be highly regarded!
