About this position

Based primarily at Sutherlands Park, the Turf Tradesperson will assist in the establishment, presentation, and maintenance of high-quality turf playing surfaces and horticultural areas.
This role will provide technical knowledge and hands-on support to the Turf Curator and Supervisor to help maintain consistent standards across the City's sporting facilities. A key part of the position will also involve the preparation and maintenance of clay cricket wickets, ensuring top-quality playing conditions and well-presented grounds.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:
Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in turf management practices and equipment use in a local government or sports turf environment.
Proven ability to work effectively as a team member, exercising initiative and judgement whilst working with minimal supervision.
Proven ability to prioritise and monitor personal workload with minimal supervision to achieve agreed outcomes within specified timeframes
Good customer service and teamwork skills to be able to maintain positive working relationships with our diverse workforce and community.
Essential requirements
Current MR driver’s licence
White Card
National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, Turf Management, or equivalent.
Operator tickets for operating machinery such as Loader, Forklift and Chainsaw will be well regarded.
Candidates may also be considered for future similar positions if they become available within the next six months.
