Who We Are
WPC Group is a national leader in apprenticeship and traineeship employment, with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. As one of the country’s leading Group Training Organisations, we connect ambitious Australians with career-defining opportunities.

For over 40 years, we’ve partnered with companies of all sizes to deliver Mentored Apprenticeship Programs, providing innovative workforce solutions. With more than 200 employer partners nationally, we specialise in the attraction, mentoring, and retention of apprentices and trainees—helping to shape the future workforce.

Position Overview
We’re passionate about empowering young people with the training and support they need to thrive in their careers — and we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Recruitment and Engagement Officer to help make it happen.

In this role, you’ll connect young talent with great employers, creating meaningful career pathways through apprenticeships and traineeships. You’ll build strong relationships with candidates, employers, schools, and community partners, all while helping to grow our network and make a lasting impact in workforce development.

This is the ideal opportunity for an experienced recruiter who’s ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll bring strong mentoring and business development skills, supporting young people as they take their first steps into the workforce while building your capability to contribute to growth initiatives to expand our employer network and create new opportunities.

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager – NSW, SA & QLD, you’ll play a key role in achieving recruitment targets and driving the growth of apprenticeship and traineeship placements across Sydney.

About You
You’ll bring proven expertise in end-to-end recruitment, strong stakeholder management skills, and a genuine interest in developing people and building client relationships. Confident, proactive, and outcomes-focused, you’ll enjoy working with autonomy while being part of a collaborative and supportive team.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

Communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and verbally.

Have a strong track record of achieving recruitment KPIs and contributing to growth targets.

Are self-motivated, proactive and take initiative, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Bring exceptional administrative, customer service and organisational skills and a sharp eye for detail in everything you do.

Stay calm, focused, and adaptable when juggling competing priorities.

Are a natural networker who enjoys building lasting connections.

Know about apprenticeships, traineeships, or the VET system (highly regarded).

Hold a current driver’s licence and can meet employment screening requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Recruitment and Engagement

Create job ads that stand out, are specific to vacancy requirements and attract top candidates.

Screen, interview and shortlist applications based on eligibility requirements.

Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process from sourcing to onboarding.

Represent WPC Group at career expos, industry events, and information sessions.

Work closely with employer partners to ensure a smooth recruitment and onboarding process.

Support new apprentices and trainees with their transition into the workforce, with mentorship, informative orientations, accurate administration, and compliance.

Marketing and Strategic Communications

Support attraction and selection strategies through presentations at schools, TAFEs, career expos and industry events.

Keep recruitment materials fresh and engaging.

Use social media and networking to source talent.

Administration and compliance

Maintain reports on recruitment activities.

Assist with employment contracts, PPE distribution, and compliance tasks.

Support the team with job listings and applicant tracking.

For the right person, this role offers the opportunity to grow beyond traditional recruitment, into mentoring, business development, and contributing to growth and strategy. If you’re motivated by purpose, enjoy building relationships, and want to see your efforts make a genuine difference we’d love to hear from you.
