About the position

Position title: Administration Coordinator

Work hours: Part-time

Division: Federal Dispute Resolution Section and Legal Practice Section

Reports to: Executive Officer

The Administrative Coordinator will provide superior administrative and secretariat services to the Law Council’s Sections. The Administrative Coordinator will provide close support to the FDRS and LPS Executive and members. The position will also assist the Law Council’s other Sections, providing support and concurrency to ongoing operations and events.

Duties

Section and Event Support

Support the Executive Officer of the Federal Dispute Resolution Section (FDRS) and Legal Practice Section (LPS) with event preparation, including resource creation and dissemination.

Provide logistics support for events, including interstate travel arrangements.

Assist with event planning and coordination.

Committee and Executive Support

Assist the Executive Officer in providing executive-level support to the FDRS and LPS Executive Committees.

Facilitate the organisation and delivery of Executive Committee meetings.

Membership Administration

Assist with the administration and management of FDRS and LPS memberships.

Contribute to the overall membership growth plan, including promotional activities, managing renewal drives, and identifying or introducing new member benefits.

Publications and Communications

Assist with and facilitate the development of the FDRS quarterly publication Chapter III and the LPS newsletter.

Prepare and distribute quarterly newsletters using Canva.

Coordinate the publishing of articles and podcasts to the Law Management Journal.

Cross-Section Support and Other Duties

Provide support to other LCA Sections as required, including backfilling during staff absences.

Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required.

Selection criteria

Essential

Demonstrated experience in providing executive and high-level administrative support.

Ability to provide a high standard of administrative support with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail with well-developed writing skills.

Self-motivated and the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated high standard of competency in MS Office.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with the ability to multi-task, manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines whilst dealing with a wide range of people.

The ability to travel interstate with at times afterhours.

Desirable

Experience in providing meeting support including minute taking.

Experience working with data management systems, design software and registration systems.

Previous experience in a member-based organisation, or legal background.

Some experience with finance.

Experience liaising with key stakeholders, for example:

courts,

government agencies,

members,

external providers, and

contractors.
