The National Academy of Professional Studies (NAPS) is looking to appoint a teaching-focused lecturer and will engage in lecturing, tutoring, unit curriculum development, unit coordination and perform administrative and other duties as required to join its growing Academic Team for its Master of Business Administration Program in Melbourne.
Selection Criteria
At least a doctoral degree Business or equivalent experience subject to NAPS HR019 Academic Qualifications and Equivalent Professional Experience Policy;
Ability to lecture postgraduate classes and conduct tutorials, including understanding the challenges of teaching international students;
Ability to a produce high-quality syllabus;
Knowledge of contemporary developments in the Business Administration discipline, and skills in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles in general and in Business Administration in particular;
Ability to teach or lead lab sessions in one or more of the following areas: business administration and management, financial accounting, financial management, taxation law, business research methods, auditing, business communication, business law, and economics;
Possess a high-level of written, verbal, and inter-personal communication skills and the ability to negotiate with sensitivity;
Proven ability to work collaboratively, as well as experience in meeting deadlines, managing workloads, and changing work priorities;
Demonstrated ability to perform administrative duties linked to implementing teaching;
Capacity to undertake research in the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or Business based research; and
Willingness to share the responsibility to maintain a safe and healthy workplace to prevent harm to themselves and to others, and to ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
Keep up to date with the discipline and subject areas in which they teach, including recent trends in teaching of that discipline;
Prepare and teach units and lead lab sessions with guidance from more senior academic staff if required;
Develop, maintain and revise course, tutorial, and lecture materials;
meet or exceed regulatory requirements including the professional body or registration requirements (CPA);
Assist with the finalisation of subject results;
Provide students with sufficient opportunity for consultation;
Participate in school meetings and committee work, particularly as it relates to teaching and learning;
Participate in functions promoting the Department such as Open Days, graduation ceremonies, seminars, and lectures for future students; and
Undertake other relevant tasks as required by the supervisor.
