Part-Time Medical Receptionist

Colorectal and General Surgeons – ASAP start – Cooks Hill

Two days per week, along with leave cover – upskill from Administration roles

Opportunity for increasing days in April 2026 for 6 months or permanent job share

About you
We are looking for a dedicated and hard-working Medical Receptionist/Administration Assistant who would love to support our Practice and Admin team and to be part of a growing and enthusiastic team. You will bring your strong communication skills and multi-tasking skills to be part of our awesome team.

We are happy to consider candidates from any Administration background (including Reception/GP Reception/Allied) who are willing to upskill to become a Medical Receptionist. No day is the same in this role, there is lots of variety, where you can use your amazing people skills and develop and fine tune your medical reception skills.

Leave coverage and flexibility
This unique position requires the successful candidate to provide coverage for both personal and annual leave for other administration staff when necessary. You will receive prior notice for annual leave coverage, with a minimum of one week’s notice provided. In cases of personal leave, notice will be given as soon as possible. Due to the nature of this responsibility, possessing a high degree of flexibility is crucial for success in this role.

There is also an opportunity to increase your working days to four or five per week for a six-month period (or potentially longer), beginning in March or April 2026. This extended leave coverage will allow you to further develop and refine your medical reception skills. Following this time, there is the potential for the role to transition into a job share arrangement (working 3 to 4 days) permanently.

This role includes the following:

Busy reception assisting our Surgeons and clinicians – reporting to our amazing and relatable Principal Surgeons and our lovely Practice Manager

Amazing established work environment (modern bright light rooms) with a truly fabulous team

Be upskilled and be trained in Gentu Medical Software (Cloud)

Managing consulting sessions (once fully trained) including diary management and consulting billing

Being our Director of First Impressions at Brand Ambassador when answering our phones and greeting our patients

Collecting Surgical Billings (training will be provided)

What you would bring to the team:

Warm engaging people centric personality

Previous administration/Reception experience

Experience performing well in a very busy environment

Skills in multi-tasking and prioritising needs of multiple people at once

Customer service skills (telephone included) that are exceptional

IT savvy, with skills to troubleshoot if needed

You will be trained in managing a consulting session and uploading referrals and results to patient files and opening and closing the rooms

Permanent Hours/Days:

Wednesday: 8:00am till 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am till 4pm

Flexibility
On other week days if required to cover leave

Pay rate:
$30.00 to $34.00 per hour plus super
