Join the City of Melville’s MelSafe Community Safety Service as an Operations Response Officer – with both 7:7 roster and day-shift opportunities available.
You’ll be on the frontline responding to a wide range of incidents, from animal control and local law breaches to welfare checks, antisocial behaviour and urgent community safety matters.
It’s an active, on-the-ground role where every day brings something new. You’ll be making a real difference in protecting and supporting our community.
Salary: Up to $98,600 p.a. + 12% Super
Base: $79,100 to $84,381 p.a.
Shift Payments: Up to $14,300 extra p.a. (for 7:7 positions only)
Available Roles & Rosters:
Three (3) 7-on / 7-off rotating roster positions – day, afternoon & night shifts with additional shift payments of up to $14,300 per year
One (1) Day-Shift-Only position – same operational responsibilities, focused on parking enforcement and hotspot patrols, with no shift payments; only work 1 in 3 weekends
Location: City of Melville Operations Centre
Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time
What You’ll Do
Patrol and respond across the City
Take proactive action to prevent and deter community safety and compliance issues
Investigate and enforce under the Dog Act, Cat Act, Local Laws & more
Handle animal management, parking, noise, litter & security-style responses
Provide initial response to incidents before escalation to Investigations Officers if required
Collaborate with WA Police and partner agencies
Use modern technology for dispatch, reporting, and evidence collection
What We’re Looking For
Current C Class Driver’s Licence
Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
Extensive experience or qualifications in compliance, investigations, or local laws (ROCS 1 & 2)
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and its application
Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
Physically fit and resilient for a fast-moving role
Desirable: Experience in court experience, ranger services, animal management (dangerous dog handling), investigations or enforcement roles
