About the Role

As Assistant Director - Planning, Development and Environment, you’ll be a key player in shaping policy and providing expert advice on planning, development, and environmental issues affecting Queensland’s residential building industry. You’ll also represent HIA in government and industry forums.

What You’ll Be Doing

Championing HIA’s policy agenda across planning, infrastructure, and sustainability

Advising members on technical building matters and regulations

Representing HIA on Australian Standards Committees and industry panels

Building strong relationships with stakeholders and government bodies

Leading research and advocacy projects that drive real change

What You Bring

Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Environmental Management, or a Building-related field

Deep understanding of the housing industry, especially multi-residential and land development

Strong communication, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills

Sharp research and report-writing abilities

Confidence to represent HIA and deputise for senior leadership
