About the role

As Team Leader Conservation and Biodiversity Planning you will be part of the broader Natural Environment Branch, leading the strategic planning and integration of conservation and biodiversity outcomes throughout Council's operations.

As one of Queensland's fastest growing cities, with a new City Plan 2025, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape a brand-new role and drive a range of activities to ensure environmental outcomes are protected, enhanced and celebrated for the Ipswich community.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic and people focussed leadership
  • Coordinating the implementation of the Natural Environment Strategy
  • Creating opportunities to align strategic planning and operational delivery
  • Leading a team in delivering policies, plans and guidelines for conservation and biodiversity
  • Embedding new systems and processes to support the new Ipswich City Plan 2025
  • Providing specialist advice and collaborating across council and with external partners

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Ecology or similar.
  • Leadership experience and ability foster a high performing, collaborative team environment.
  • Experience in strategy, planning and policy development.
  • Passion for driving positive outcomes for our natural environment and community.
  • Solutions focussed and collaborative approach to facilitating ‘whole of Council' integration of conservation and biodiversity outcomes.
  • Belief in our values of safety and wellbeing, communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency and leadership.

This is permanent position, with a salary commencing at $121,909 plus 12.5% superannuation.
