About this position

Lead the way in shaping the City’s environmental future. As the Coordinator Environmental Management, you’ll drive strategic initiatives that protect, enhance, and sustain our natural areas. This is a leadership role with real influence—guiding a multidisciplinary team, shaping policy, and embedding environmental excellence across City projects, operations, and community engagement.

Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners, you’ll champion innovative approaches to environmental operations, project delivery, and policy development. You’ll oversee key environmental projects, lead change management initiatives, and develop the City’s Environment Strategy to deliver measurable impacts.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to empower, motivate and develop a multi-disciplinary team

Experience in project and operational management, including experience in the preparation and management of substantial budgets.

High level communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders internally and externally/

Proven ability to prioritise, monitor and co-ordinate personal workload, with minimal supervision to achieve business unit outcomes.

Well-developed analytical capabilities, to ensure accurate and concise environmental advice is provided and legislation is interpreted correctly.

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or similar discipline.

Current National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Current driver’s licence.
