Our Healthy Country Plan guides our work and underpins our commitment to strengthening connection to Country while creating meaningful employment pathways for Yinhawangka people.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lands Manager to lead the delivery of the Yinhawangka Healthy Country Plan. This is a pivotal leadership role where you'll oversee the Ranger and Trainee program, develop environmental management initiatives, and drive sustainable growth opportunities for Yinhawangka people to work on Country.

As Lands Manager, you will:

Lead the review, renewal, and implementation of the Yinhawangka Healthy Country Plan in partnership with Elders, Rangers, and the Board.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to the Ranger team to ensure cultural protocols and environmental priorities are met.

Establish and manage a structured trainee program, combining accredited training, cultural knowledge-sharing, and practical experience.

Develop monitoring frameworks for key environmental and cultural values, ensuring data is used for adaptive management.

Identify and secure funding opportunities and fee-for-service partnerships to expand the workforce and create new revenue streams.

Represent Yinhawangka interests and build strong relationships with government, industry, NGOs, and research partners.

Embed cultural values in all land management activities, ensuring Elders and knowledge holders are central to guiding programs.

About You

Applicants must hold Australian permanent residency or citizenship to be eligible for this position.

Essential skills & experience:

Strong background in natural resource management, land management, or ranger program coordination.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in natural resource management, land management, or ranger program coordination is required.

Proven experience working with Aboriginal communities and respect for cultural protocols.

Extensive experience working with Aboriginal communities and demonstrable understanding of cultural protocols is essential.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a team.

Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and securing funding.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable:

Qualifications in environmental science, land management, or a related field.

Experience developing revenue-generating land management projects (e.g. fee-for-service, carbon, or conservation initiatives).

Knowledge of Pilbara ecosystems, threats, and conservation priorities.

Previous experience managing Indigenous ranger programs.
