Restaurant In-House Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented In-House Accountant to join our office team. The ideal candidate will assist in day-to-day accounting operations but also should have experience with trusts and tax strategies to optimize our financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations

Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports tailored to restaurant operations

Oversee trust accounting and ensure compliance with related regulations

Assist in the advice of managing loan agreements and repayments

Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize financial outcomes

Collaborate with management on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during tax filings

Support cost control measures

Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to accounting standards and tax laws

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality sector

In-depth knowledge and practical experience with trusts and trust accounting

understanding of Division 7A compliance and related tax legislation

Experience in developing and applying tax strategies for business efficiency

Proficiency with accounting software (Myob , Xero, or similar)

Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams

Preferred:

CPA or equivalent certification

Experience with payroll processing, POS systems and inventory management
