About the role
SWI Fencing is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Rhodes, NSW. This is a full-time dual role with responsibilities for financial accounting and reporting, as well as payroll.
What you'll be doing
Payroll (50%)
- Fortnightly end-to-end payroll function, ensuring compliance with Awards, legislation, contracts, and company policies.
- Administer superannuation payments, payroll tax, PAYG, and other obligations.
- Maintain accurate employee records (onboarding, terminations, pay adjustments, leave, bonuses).
Financial Accounting (50%)
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and management reports.
- Compliance with accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor and analyse expenditure, identifying cost control opportunities.
- Support financial governance, internal controls, and audit readiness.
- Provide financial insights and advice to senior leadership on performance and investments.
- Contribute to process improvements, digital transformation, and integration of payroll and finance systems.
Other Duties
- Provide support with accounts payable/receivable as required.
- System upgrades, process improvement initiatives, and digital transformation projects.
What we're looking for
CA/CPA-qualified or working towards (preferred).
Proven 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting, reporting, or related role and payroll processing within a medium to large organisation.
Strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and employment legislation.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, Premier) and Microsoft Excel/financial software.
High level of numeracy, attention to detail, and analytical capability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels.
Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial and payroll information.
Strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise across dual responsibilities.
