Assistant Manager – Pre-Delivery & Accessory Fitting

Essendon Motor Group is a family-owned dealership known for quality, integrity, and customer care. We’re expanding our Pre-Delivery & Accessories operation and are seeking a skilled fitter who can also step up as our Assistant Manager (2IC) to help lead the day-to-day.

The Opportunity

You’ll split your time between leading the pre-delivery/accessories workflow and installing accessories to a high standard. You’ll coordinate jobs, support a small team, keep inventory moving, and make sure vehicles are delivered on time, in full, and ready to delight customers.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations (Assistant Manager)

Run the daily plan: allocate jobs, set priorities to delivery dates, and optimise technician workload.

Liaise with Sales, Service, and Logistics to schedule fit-outs and meet handover deadlines.

Coach and mentor team members; lead daily huddles and uphold EMG standards.

Quality control: conduct final inspections, sign-off checklists, and drive “zero rework” culture.

Inventory & procurement: order and track accessories, manage stock levels, reconcile deliveries.

Manage external vendors/subcontractors and ensure on-time, on-spec outcomes.

Workshop standards & safety: maintain a clean, compliant workspace (WHS, 5S, toolbox talks).

Admin & reporting: accuracy of job cards, timesheets/rosters, basic warranty/doc support.

Track and report KPIs (cycle time, productivity, OTIF, rework) and drive continuous improvement.

Technical – Accessory Fitting

Install a range of accessories and aftermarket upgrades on new vehicles, including:

Dash camera systems

Roof racks, towbars, cargo carriers

Electronic and manual roller covers

Interior/exterior styling enhancements

Follow OEM procedures and wiring diagrams; verify operation and integration with vehicle systems.

Maintain tidy, safe work areas and proactively manage parts/tools for each job.

Stay current on new products and recommend suitable upgrades when appropriate.

What You’ll Bring

3+ years’ accessory fitting / pre-delivery experience; lead or 2IC exposure strongly preferred.

Solid 12V skills (loom routing, solder/terminate, CAN-bus awareness) and fault-finding ability.

Strong organisation and communication skills; calm under deadline.

Comfortable using basic DMS/PC tools (job cards, parts lookups, spreadsheets).

Current manual driver’s licence and full Australian work rights.

Trade qualification (Light Vehicle/Auto-Electrical) is valued but not essential if experience is strong.
