Join a passionate team making a real impact in waste reduction and sustainability at Council's Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC). As a Reuse and Recycling Officer, you'll play a hands-on role in customer service, retail sales, and resource recovery.
Your day will include helping customers, processing payments, maintaining a clean and organised shopfront, and ensuring reusable materials are presented for sale - diverting waste from landfill and back into the community.

- Two (2) permanent, part-time positions available.
- Twenty-nine (29) hours per fortnight over a two (2) week rotating roster, as follows:
- Week 1: Thursday and Friday, 7.45am to 3.30pm daily (30-minute unpaid meal break)
- Week 2: Saturday and Sunday, 7.45am to 3.30pm daily (30-minute unpaid meal break)
- Access to five (5) weeks annual leave based on a two (2) week rotating roster (pro-rata based on part time hours of work).
- Remuneration package of $920.68 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $1,104.82 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%) based on part-time hours of work.
- Penalty rates applicable for hours worked on weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Reuse and Recycling Officer, you will be responsible to:
- Deliver tasks with Council's Reuse Shop i.e., greeting customers, answering questions, processing payments, and maintaining a professional attitude reflecting Council's commitment to customers.
- Effectively manage the collection, presentation and sale of re-saleable materials ensuring maximum recyclable diversion.
- Maintain the reuse shop to a high level of housekeeping and follow the pricing mechanisms as developed by management.
- Undertake recycling and direct sales duties including operation of the reuse shop; load inspections; direct public and contractors to correct waste disposal areas and alternate diversion areas; provide waste disposal advice; process payments and charges.
- Effectively manage the presentation and sale of re-saleable materials, ensuring maximum recyclable diversion and compliance with regulations and procedure.
- Promote and plan opportunities to increase diversion and sales revenue in conjunction with Coordinator.
- Communicate with other team members to maximise diversion and sales.
- Utilise and maintain all items of plant, equipment, tools and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.
- Complete documentation relevant to the role e.g. standard forms, payroll, cash and EFTPOS reconciliations, site safety documentation including incident reports etc.
- Perform other duties in support of the GWMC team as directed, relevant to skills, competence and training.
Essential Requirements of the Position:
As the successful applicant, you will bring a strong mix of qualifications, skills and professional experience, including:
- Current Class C Driver's Licence (MR Licence Desirable).
- General Construction Induction Training Card.
- National Certificates of Competency - Forklift (LF) (Desirable and willingness to obtain).
- Demonstrated experience relevant to the role including cash handling.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Demonstrated time management, planning and basic computer skills.
In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Tetanus and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
