Daily Rate: $955 + Super

Are you an experienced legal professional looking to take on a senior role in a dynamic and high-profile environment? We are seeking a Principal Legal Officer to provide expert legal advice and support to a statutory regulatory body overseeing a complex and evolving industry.

About the Role

As a Principal Legal Officer, you will provide independent legal guidance, both written and oral, on complex legislative and regulatory matters. You will play a key role in supporting executive decision-making, managing legal proceedings, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert, commercially strategic legal advice on licensing, disciplinary, and regulatory matters.
• Develop evidence-based legal solutions aligned with corporate objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Identify emerging legal issues, assess risks, and recommend practical resolutions.
• Draft and review complex legal documents, including advice, submissions, briefing notes, and correspondence.
• Manage legal proceedings, including liaising with counsel and external legal providers.
• Maintain current knowledge of legislation, case law, and regulatory developments.

What We’re Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW.
• Current practising certificate.
• Extensive experience providing senior or executive-level legal advice in a complex organisation.
• Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to drive performance in politically and commercially sensitive environments.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
