The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Chef to step up in their career. What You'll Do
Prepare and cook food to the highest standard, following the restaurant's authentic recipes and presentation guidelines.
Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages, from ingredient preparation to final presentation, ensuring consistency and excellence.
Assist head chef in planning menus by participating in discussions, providing feedback, and helping to test new recipes.
Contribute to estimating food costs and ordering food supplies by monitoring stock levels at your station and reporting needs accurately.
Explain and enforce hygiene regulations, ensuring your station and practices comply with all Australian food safety standards.
Discuss food preparation issues and daily service needs effectively with senior chefs, kitchen staff, and waiting staff.
Demonstrate cooking techniques to new or less experienced kitchen hands and advise them on correct procedures as part of your development.
Assist in the training of new staff by providing guidance and support during service.
Properly handle, store, and preserve food items, including freezing where required, to maintain quality and minimise wastage.
What You'll Bring
A relevant culinary qualification (e.g., Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality) is essential.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, commercial kitchen environment, preferably in Chinese or Asian cuisine.
A genuine passion for Chinese cuisine and a strong willingness to learn and develop.
Basic knowledge of different cooking methods and solid knife skills.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train, motivate, and develop kitchen staff.
Solid understanding of kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory control, supplier management, and cost control.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work well within a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
