The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Underground Mining Manager to lead all aspects of its underground operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will oversee safety, production, and cost performance, while aligning operations with the mine's strategic objectives and life-of-mine plans.
This role will suit a proactive and technically skilled mining professional with proven leadership capability and a strong safety focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all underground mining activities to achieve safety, production, and cost targets.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company standards, and safe systems of work.
- Collaborate with Technical Services and Maintenance teams to align short- and long-term operational strategies.
- Monitor and report on development, stoping, and production progress against plans.
- Contribute to mine planning, budgeting, LOM planning, and strategic development.
- Optimize mining efficiency, minimize dilution, and improve recovery.
- Support maintenance planning to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Lead preparation and justification of Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs).
- Build and sustain a high-performance culture through effective leadership, communication, and team development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, production, and cost efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- WA Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency
- Current “C” Class WA Driver’s Licence
- National Police Clearance (suitable to company standards)
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Proven experience in managing underground operations in a senior leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
Desired:
- Demonstrated success in driving cultural and operational change
- Advanced mine planning software skills (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan)
- High-level analytical and forecasting ability
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Competence with integrated management systems and MS Office Suite
