Principal Mining Engineer – 8/6

This role is suited to a highly skilled and commercially minded mining professional ready to take full ownership of technical planning across a multi-mine gold operation. With three underground and two open-pit mines in production, this position provides a rare opportunity to shape integrated mine strategies and deliver long-term value in a growing WA gold business.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role offers both autonomy and responsibility where your expertise will directly influence reserves, production forecasting, and cost outcomes across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans and Reserve models across multiple sites.

Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including preparation of full cost models.

Collate and integrate mine schedules between underground and open-pit operations.

Provide strategic input into mine sequencing, optimisation studies, and growth projects.

Deliver accurate and timely reporting to site leadership and senior management.

Ensure technical standards, safety, and compliance are embedded in planning practices.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.

Significant experience in mine planning with exposure to both UG and OP environments.

Proven track record in Reserves, LOM planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

Strong commercial acumen with ability to build and manage cost models.

High-level competency in mine design and scheduling software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Datamine).

Strong communication skills and ability to liaise across technical, production, and corporate teams.

Flexible, independent, and comfortable working with autonomy.
