The Company
Our client, Gemco Rail is one of the leading independent suppliers of rolling stock products & services to the Australian rail industry. They specialise in the supply, maintenance and overhaul of locomotives, wagons, passenger cars and rolling stock components and track maintenance equipment.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager (EGM), who is based in Melbourne the General Manager (GM), Sales & Business Development’s remit is to lead the delivery of the strategic sales plan and performance for their Rail business. The position can be based in Perth, Melbourne or Newcastle.
Aligned with the organisations strategic business plans, the GM, Sales & Business Development will work closely with the EGM, and other Managers to develop their knowledge and relationships within target segments. The GM, Sales & Business Development will also continue to review and enhance targeted value propositions and execute long cycle strategic sales plans with a focus on building long-term sustainable sales & margin growth for the business.
The GM, Sales & Business Development will be responsible for:;
- Leading by example with an uncompromising approach to the organisations safety-first culture.
- Leading and developing a high-performance sales and account management team and driving strategy execution and delivery of financial and business results.
- Working closely with the EGM to achieve required revenue and gross profit targets by identifying opportunities and developing plans to realise these opportunities.
- Developing and implementing processes for evaluating opportunities in terms of financial gain and alignment to the Strategic Sales Plan.
- Preparation of proposals, tenders, service and maintenance agreements, quotations, contract review and negotiation.
- Preparation of verbal and written communications, reports, and presentations.
- Keeping abreast of industry and market trends.
About you
You will have demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers and secure new business. Your stakeholder management and capability to build relationships both internally and externally are paramount.
Your experience in strategic account management, market segmentation, value-based selling, and the patience/skill to manage complex, multi-year sales processes. The role requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution capabilities.
You will hold a tertiary qualification and have well-developed analytical and planning skills. Your outstanding business development and sales acumen and strong technical and industry knowledge, combined with your customer service skills will see your success in this role.
