Transport Support Worker- Aboriginal Identified Position

Burrun Dalai provides Out of Home Care (OOHC) and Foster Care to Aboriginal children & young people of the Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings, Manning, Armidale and Tamworth Regions.

As a Transport Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal clients by providing safe, reliable, and culturally respectful transport to medical appointments, community services, and other essential destinations.

You’ll also assist with basic support tasks and help clients feel comfortable and respected throughout their journey.

What you are responsible for:

Attend, participate and provide support to Caseworkers on supervised contacts for Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care with their birth families and significant others.

Transport Aboriginal children and young people as required and directed by Casework Managers.

Supervise Aboriginal children and young people as required and directed by Casework Managers.

Prepare contact reports or assist caseworkers to prepare contact reports as required.

Essential:

1. Aboriginality.

2. Possess and retain a NSW Drivers Licence, with a good driving record.

3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

4. An ability to recognise and then refer to others in complex or critical issues in need of resolution.

5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

6. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and communities, preferably with lived experience or strong community ties.

7. Excellent time management and organisational skills

8. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of: - Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Confidentiality, Ethical practices and Quality Improvement.

Desirable:

1. Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.

2. Knowledge of local Aboriginal organisations and services.
