OOHC Caseworker Manager - Aboriginal Identified Position

Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation provides foster care to Aboriginal children & young people of the Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings, Manning, Armidale and Tamworth Regions. It is one of the largest and most successful Aboriginal agencies in NSW.

We are now recruiting for a Out of Home Care Caseworker Manager to join our multidisciplinary team and work within a supportive community focused organisation.

This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience as a Caseworker Manager or Caseworker wishing to further their career and/or background of Child Protection and is looking for a full-time role in TAREE, NSW.

Principal Duties include but not limited to:

As the OOHC Casework Manager, you will oversee a team of caseworkers and ensure that all services provided are aligned with the principles of self-determination, cultural safety, and community connection. You will play a key role in:

Leading and mentoring casework staff

Ensuring compliance with child protection legislation and OOHC standards

Building strong relationships with Aboriginal families, communities, and service providers

Advocating for the rights and wellbeing of Aboriginal children in care

Supporting the implementation of culturally appropriate case plans

Essential Criteria

Aboriginality

Working knowledge of the Child and Young Persons Care and Protection Act (1988), with knowledge of out of homecare legislation(s) and practice and a proven willingness to keep up to date.

Working knowledge of issues involving Out of Home Care for Aboriginal children and young people, families, and foster carers in the Office Location CSC Areas, and in particular the unique difficulties/issues that arise for Aboriginal children, young people, and foster carers.

Relevant Qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in Aboriginal welfare and child protection areas experience in case management.

Excellent interpersonal, computer and written communication skills and demonstrated high level assessment and report writing skills.

Demonstrated experience in supervision and management of small teams with proven skills in conflict and negotiation and the ability to resolve complex and critical issues.

Proven ability to liaise with relevant government and non-government professionals, community groups, services and agencies in the provision and development of services.

Self-motivated with proven effective time management and organisational skills.

Availability to participate in On Call Services as required.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Ethical practices, and continuous quality improvement.

Hold a Current NSW Driver License and ability to travel to perform the duties.

Desirable Criteria

Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Diploma of Child, Youth & Family Intervention.

Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation.

Understanding of and/or experience in utilising and implementing Forster Carer Training Package and Foster Carer Assessment tools.
