POSITION OBJECTIVE
Within a feminist framework, provide management of the Red Rose Foundation to ensure it provides a high quality domestic violence service focusing of direct service delivery, education and training, lobbying and law reform. To form strategic alliances and engage in structural advocacy that will assist in delivering enhanced services to women. ~
To work as part of a team, maintaining a high-quality strangulation survivor counselling and support service across Queensland providing face to face and telephone counselling, support, information and education to female survivors of strangulation and information, education and training to other members of the community.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Direct accountability is to the CEO of Red Rose Foundation who reports directly to the Management Board. Safety of clients and accountability for services provided to clients is inherent in the position.
DUTIES
COUNSELLING & SUPPORT
1. To provide non-judgemental trauma-informed and culturally sensitive counselling, support and information to women who contact the organisation for assistance with issues relating to non-lethal strangulation.
2. To provide court support to women survivors who are involved in the medical/legal process.
3. To provide assistance with warm referrals and access to other services and resources.
4. Provide advocacy for women survivors, when necessary, in order to achieve positive outcomes for them with other agencies.
SUPERVISION
1. To manage and coordinate the clinical counselling program.
2. To provide clinical supervision and case management support to the counselling team members.
3. To oversee in consultation with the counselling team, the design, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of groups for women who have experienced non-lethal strangulation.
4. To co-ordinate agency activities in the absence of the CEO.
EDUCATION
1. To assist with the development of written material providing information to women who have experienced intimate partner non-lethal strangulation, and for other professionals working in the area of violence against women.
2. To assist with the development and delivery of training to enhance responses to women who have experienced intimate partner non-lethal strangulation for other professionals working in the area of violence against women.
GENERAL TASKS
1. Networking with Government organisations, community-based agencies and other professionals and workers in the community to share and develop a greater knowledge of, and relationship with, people working in this field.
2. Collect statistical data for reporting as required for accountability, research, evaluation and needs analysis purposes.
3. Maintain a current knowledge of the application of legislation, research and other data related to the area of violence against women.
4. Participate in the development of the organisation with other staff in strategic planning for the organisation.
5. Participate in the review, evaluation and policy development of the organisation in conjunction with other staff.
6. Attend and participate in staff / planning meetings.
7. Participate in regular supervision with an external supervisor.
8. Report monthly to the CEO on the ongoing operation of the Strangulation Trauma Centre.
9. Undertake any other relevant tasks as directed.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
KSC1 Qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology or social sciences plus experience in working in the area of intimate partner violence against women.
KSC2 An advanced understanding of the dynamics of violence against women including high risk lethality indicators, and effects of trauma.
KSC3 An ability to work within the philosophy, values, and guidelines of the organisation as a team member.
KSC4 Experience in counselling and group work with female survivors of intimate partner violence.
KSC5 Demonstrated ability to develop education and training programmes.
KSC6 A full and current understanding of all legal aspects pertaining to violence against women.
Current Queensland drivers licence and Blue Card essential
