Structural Project Engineer needed for heritage rail tunnel upgrade. Immediate start!

Are you a seasoned civil or structural engineer ready to take on a unique and technically complex infrastructure challenge? We're seeking a Project Engineer to join a high-impact team working on the design and upgrade of a rail tunnel as part of a broader regional infrastructure program.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the concept and detailed design of a heritage asset, involving track lowering, structural assessments, and civil works. The project is currently in its design phase, with delivery timelines still being finalised, offering flexibility and the potential for longer-term engagement.

Your new role
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the following below:

• Support the design process for tunnel infrastructure, including structural and track elements.
• Collaborate with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with engineering standards and assurance documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, governance processes, and technical investigations.
• Provide input into specifications, work instructions, and engineering solutions.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong structural and civil engineering experience, ideally within rail or similar infrastructure environments.
• Proven ability to work across design and delivery phases of complex projects
• Comfortable navigating agile, fast-paced project environments with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with tunnel infrastructure or heritage assets is highly desirable.
• RIW card and Category 3 medical clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• Familiarity with rail competencies and safety standards is beneficial.
