Diamantina Shire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Tourism Coordinator to join our team in Bedourie, Queensland. This is a full-time permanent position that will lead bold initiatives that celebrate culture, drive innovation, and elevate regional tourism. To champion for sustainable growth and unlock the full potential of our unique outback destinations.

What you'll be doing

🚀 Spearhead strategic tourism development for long-term social and economic impact

🤝 Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, community groups, and industry leaders

🎉 Lead Council-driven projects that position the Shire as a premier hub for festivals and cultural events

🌏 Promote the region’s rich tourism offerings to enhance liveability and visitor experience

What we're looking for

Tertiary qualification and or significant experience in Tourism, Event Management, Marketing, Communications or similar discipline.

Previous experience in organising and running events including marketing these events to attract wider audience.

Previous experience working in Local Government and willingness to living and working onsite outback community.

Ability to work flexible hours to adapt the competing demands of running social events while still able to manage day to day administration and staff management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
