About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

The Family Health and Wellbeing team is responsible for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in South East Queensland with the following services: Legal, Social health, Birthing and early childhood (BiOC and AFPP), Early Childhood education (Deadly Kindies) Family Wellbeing, Paediatric Occupational and Speech pathology.

About the Role?

As a Transport Officer within the Birthing in Our Community (BiOC) team you will be responsible for providing professional, courteous, and safe transportation and medical courier services for IUIH and IUIH Clients.

  • Provide clients with respectful, courteous, and culturally appropriate transport services
  • Timely pick up and transporting clients to and from their home in line with client requirements (i.e. medical and health appointments as scheduled and Project and Program attendance)
  • Ad hoc and emergency pick up of clients as requested
  • Maintain a log/ record of all your journeys

About You?

Essentials:

  • Ability to travel within the Morton Bay region.
  • Ability to read and use maps, GPS and street directory
  • Ability to understand transport schedules and coordinate effect transport appointments in line with clients’ needs.
  • Demonstrate empathy for pregnant mothers and people who are frail, aged and/or disabled
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Blue Card and Disability Workers Screening (Yellow) Card
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates

Desirable, but not mandatory

  • Previous Experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service
