Major Tasks and Duties:

Prepare Pastry items - make Cakes and Pastry, preparing all our Desserts

Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before & after production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients to ensure there is no contamination or foreign objects.

Kneading, maturing, cutting, molding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods.

Preparing pastry fillings.

Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times.

Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products.

Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing.

Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits.

Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment.

Create new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage the interest of customers.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

Trade Qualification or equivalent is a minimum requirement.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or Pastry Chef.

Strong skills in the production of pastries, desserts and cakes preferred.

Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task.

Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.

Have sound knowledge on all Pastry and bakery equipment including mixing and ovens.

Strong work ethic.

Great attention to detail and creativity.

Organising and leadership skills.
