About the role

The Wildlife Officer plays a crucial role in the conservation of Tasmania’s threatened species particularly the critically endangered Orange-bellied Parrot and the Tasmanian devil. In the role you will:

  • Provide efficient and effective animal care and husbandry.
  • Deliver wildlife management programs ensuring recovery actions for conservation species are undertaken in line with expected outcomes.
  • Occasionally get out in nature to monitor the population and collect data to guide future conservation efforts.
  • Help coordinators by delivering outstanding administrative support to keep everything running smoothly.
Our ideal candidate has
  • Experience caring for Australian native animals in captivity.
  • Hands-on experience conducting field-based wildlife surveys.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Zoo Keeping/Captive animals or veterinary nursing.
