Kentish and Latrobe Councils are looking for a motivated Officer Green Spaces to join our team. This is a shared position between the two Councils, offering diverse experiences and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across both municipalities.

This full-time role has a focus on, but is not limited to, the upkeep and presentation of Council’s sports ovals, ensuring high-quality turf surfaces are maintained to support recreational and sporting use. Key duties include turf mowing, aeration, fertilising, irrigation management, line marking, turf repair and cricket wicket preparation. You will also undertake tasks such as weed and pest control, and monitoring turf health to ensure playing surfaces remain safe, level, and visually appealing. Additional responsibilities may include garden maintenance, tree trimming, rubbish removal, whipper snipping and general maintenance of parks.

The successful applicant will have experience in horticulture, experience operating various pieces of small plant and hand/power tools, hold a current driver licence and be able to work within a small multi-disciplined team across a variety of locations. A qualification in turf management would be highly desirable.

About Us

The Latrobe and Kentish Councils are located adjacent to each other in the North-West of Tasmania and cover an area from the coastal beaches of Port Sorell to the highland regions of Mount Roland and Cradle Mountain.

Latrobe and Kentish Councils value collaboration and partnerships both within and outside their municipalities. As part of their business model, the Councils have entered into a resource-sharing arrangement. This allows both Councils to deliver services and outcomes for their respective communities to gain benefits that may have been otherwise unattainable.

Since the inception of the resource sharing arrangements in 2010, the number of resources shared has steadily grown and the two Councils now operate as one organisation with each Council retaining their respective elected representatives.
