Study Cairns is the not-for-profit peak body for international education and training in Tropical North Queensland. We represent a diverse network of education providers and industry stakeholders, working together to enhance the international student experience and position Cairns as a premier study destination.

The Cairns Student Hub, managed by Study Cairns, is seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Student Engagement Coordinator to play a key role in supporting international students in our region. This position will help boost student engagement and wellbeing by coordinating activities, supporting daily Hub operations, and building connections between students, the local community, and education providers.

As the Student Engagement Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for students visiting the Cairns Student Hub. You will create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment, helping students settle into life in Cairns and feel part of our vibrant, multicultural community.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating daily operations of the Student Hub and delivering a friendly, professional service to all students.

Designing, planning, and delivering programs, workshops, and activities that promote student engagement, wellbeing, employability, and community involvement.

Providing guidance and support to students on a wide range of issues, including accommodation, employment, cultural adjustment, and wellbeing.

Overlook the Study Cairns Ambassadors Program, providing guidance and leadership to student representatives.

Building partnerships with Study Cairns members, education providers, and community stakeholders to create opportunities and initiatives that support international students.

Assisting with communications, including Hub newsletters, social media, and promotional activities.

Collecting data and feedback from students to monitor engagement and report on outcomes.

Supporting major Study Cairns events and campaigns, ensuring student participation and representation.

What You Bring

We are looking for someone with:

A passion for the international education sector and working with students, with a genuine commitment to supporting international students.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across cultures and backgrounds.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience in community engagement, education, student services, or youth programs (preferred but not essential).

Experience in marketing, communications, or social media to promote student programs and engagement activities.

A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Confidence in using Microsoft Office (including Excel), social media platforms, and other digital tools.
