Position Description: Senior School Wellbeing Advisor (Part-time permanent)
Commencing: Term 4 (Term Time Only + 2 Weeks) Annualised Wage
Hours of Duty: 8.00am – 3pm (5 Days per week term time)
Qualifications: Diploma in Children’s Services, Counselling, Youthwork or equivalent

This role isn’t like your traditional youth work or counselling role in a traditional high school setting – this is a unique opportunity to work within a transformative educational approach that truly puts our students at the heart of our decision making.

Silkwood School is seeking an individual with experience in mental health and well-being in the adolescent years (Year 10-12) to manage our wellbeing space for our senior students at our campus located in Robina.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Student Support: Supporting our students and team to deliver on student wellbeing. You will set up, maintain and support students emotional and behavioural regulation (restorative practices approach) in our dedicated ‘Chill Out Space’, liaise with families via phone for pick-ups and follow all IBP’s and other identified support strategies that may be in place for our students.
Plan Resourcing: Ensure the Wellbeing Space is adequately resourced to deliver on key tasks and implement the ‘Silkwood Way’ guides and handbooks that relate to student wellbeing. Source and integrate presentations from external wellbeing providers/mentors for year level or whole school implementation
Manage the Student Wellbeing Space: Maintain accurate and confidential records of mental health and behaviour incidents notifying caregivers when necessary.
Respond to Student Behaviour Walkin’s: Deescalate student behaviour and assess student’s needs. The capacity to gather information on behaviour incidents and attend to investigations as and when directed will be key to this role using a restorative approach.
Attend to Mental Health First Aid: Support Advisors and Students with mental health incidents. Run and manage identified wellbeing supports, clubs and other interest groups
Be an Active Team Member: Model and Support working in ‘The Silkwood Way’ through collaboration and connection.
