This government agency plays a vital role in ensuring compliance, integrity, and high performance across its workforce. The People and Capability Branch provides specialist HR advice and services, driving organisational culture, wellbeing, and people-focused outcomes.
The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Code, Performance and Rehabilitation Advisor to join the People and Capability Branch in Canberra. You will provide expert advice, guidance and support to managers and staff on a range of complex and sensitive employment matters. This includes managing workplace behaviour and conduct issues, performance management processes, rehabilitation case management, and supporting compensation claims.
You will play a key role in facilitating early interventions, mediating disputes where required, and helping to foster a positive workplace culture through fair and consistent practices. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development and continuous improvement of policies and procedures that support safe, respectful and high-performing workplaces.
Duties include:
- Providing expert advice on complex performance management, conduct and rehabilitation cases.
- Managing end-to-end performance improvement and conduct investigations in line with legislative and procedural frameworks.
- Preparing case documentation, briefings and reports for decision-makers.
- Facilitating discussions, mediating disputes, and supporting early resolution of workplace issues.
- Building strong relationships with managers, employees and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience required:
- Demonstrated expertise in performance management, conduct investigations, and rehabilitation case management.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, directives, and procedural fairness principles.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and complex matters.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in IR, HR, employment law, investigations or business management are highly regarded.
- APS experience highly desirable.
