About the role

We're seeking an experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team at Muurrbay Aboriginal Language and Culture Co-operative in Nambucca Heads, NSW. This part-time position will be responsible for the Co-operative's financial accounting and reporting, playing a key role in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

What you'll be doing

Preparing accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow reports

Managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring invoices are processed in a timely manner and payroll as required

Reconciling bank accounts and maintaining detailed financial records

Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget and providing financial analysis and recommendations

Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations

Providing financial guidance and support to the management team

Collaborating with external auditors and tax professionals as required

What we're looking for

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar financial accounting role, preferably within the not-for-profit or community sector

Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights

Demonstrated proficiency in MYOB accounting software is essential

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is essential
