Primary purpose of the role
Lead and manage financial analysis for business cases and strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and the NSW Government Investment Framework. Provide expert, evidence-based advice including Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) assessments to support robust decision-making.
Key accountabilities
Lead a team of analysts to deliver high-quality financial and cost analysis for business cases, funding proposals, and strategic initiatives.
Conduct detailed CBA and calculate BCR to assess the economic viability and value-for-money of proposed investments.
Contribute to strategic development, assess policy positions, and support the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive benefits and cost catalogue to inform investment decisions and support consistent, transparent, and repeatable investment evaluations, maximising public value.
Contribute to the development and refinement of strategic plans by providing financial insights and scenario modelling, consolidating financial views across submissions, ensuring consistency with NSW Treasury guidelines and investment evaluation standards.
Manage project deliverables and timelines to meet internal and external reporting obligations.
Collaborate with finance and project teams to apply best practice methodologies and deliver measurable outcomes aligned with strategic objectives.
Mentor and develop team members to build analytical capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Engage and manage stakeholders to ensure alignment with legislative, policy, and customer expectations, and to facilitate informed decision-making.
Key challenges
Balancing competing priorities and interdependencies in a dynamic delivery environment while maintaining quality, timeliness, and strategic alignment.
Applying rigorous financial modelling and risk management practices to ensure robust CBA and BCR outputs that support sound investment decisions while engaging with funding agencies to secure support for financial recommendations.
Translating complex policy positions into clear financial implications and actionable insights to influence and engage diverse stakeholders with competing needs.
Key knowledge and experience
- Building financial models
- Highly experienced in excel
- Substantial experience in leading the development and analysis of complex financial models for strategic programs in government or a large organisation.
$950 per day
Start date asap and finishing date being scheduled for 6 months
