We are seeking a proactive Community Organiser to join the team in the Office of Meg Brown, Labor Member for Franklin. This role is about reaching out, building new connections, and ensuring that the voices of local people are heard in Parliament.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement community engagement plans – both in person and online.
Organise forums, briefings, roundtables, town halls, and other public events.
Create and distribute community newsletters, surveys, and notices on local issues.
Contribute to digital media content, including social media engagement and monitoring.
Liaise with constituents and groups via email, phone, meetings, and online platforms.
Prepare reports and briefings for the Member on community feedback.
Analyse data to measure the effectiveness of engagement and recommend improvements.
What you’ll bring:
An understanding of Tasmanian politics and the issues facing communities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to diverse audiences.
High-level organisational and self-management skills.
Confidence with digital tools – especially social media and Microsoft Office.
A genuine passion for community connection and engagement.
This role requires flexibility, including some evening and weekend work, and occasional intrastate travel. You’ll be part of a Labor team committed to fairness, opportunity, and making sure people across Tasmania are represented.
