SUMMARY

A leading listed mining services company seeks a Senior Legal Counsel with a commercial focus to join its collaborative team and support its business across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

THE COMPANY

A leading global mining services company supporting resources and mining companies, with operations in over 50 countries, 16,000 employees and a significant presence in Australia and APAC.

THE ROLE

This role reports to the APAC General Counsel and is part of a small, high-performing legal team that supports the business across the APAC Region.

Legal Operations

Disputes

Strategic Initiatives

Projects

This role will suit a lawyer with at least 6+ years of experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or solid in-house experience supporting the construction, mining, or resources sectors, and who has strong commercial acumen and a solutions-focused approach.

A key role within the regional and global legal team, where the ability to influence senior stakeholders and perform will see you thrive.

Hands-on and part of the business – Partner with senior leaders and internal stakeholders on key commercial contracts – drafting, analysing, negotiating, and supporting the successful delivery of customer contracts and procurement agreements.

Commercial risk management: Use your legal knowledge to improve the business's commercial outcomes. Ensure the company meets its legal and corporate obligations, including developing preventative procedures and being instrumental in improving risk management.

ABOUT YOU

You have the basics – a current Australian Practicing Certificate and a minimum of 6+ years post-qualification experience, ideally with prior experience from a reputable law firm and/or in-house team.

You’re comfortable calling a spade a spade – prior exposure to clients or businesses operating in sectors such as heavy industry, manufacturing, construction, engineering, mining, or resources will be beneficial but not essential.

You have established technical legal skills – especially in drafting and reviewing various legal documents and contracts, including supply, procurement, and sales contracts.

You get it commercially – you have strong negotiation skills and a keen awareness of commercially minded and compliant legal solutions for the business. You also have the aptitude for managing diverse stakeholders' work priorities and expectations.

Competitive salary package from the outset

SALARY: To $228,500 including super plus $21k car allowance.
