About the Role
The Business Development Officer drives organisational growth, visibility, and sustainable programs through strategic partnerships, effective community engagement, and direct client relationship management. The BDO ensures new clients are engaged, supported, and smoothly integrated, before a structured handover to ongoing team support after settlement.
Primary Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations
Establish and nurture relationships with community groups, referral networks, and local stakeholders.
Actively represent the organisation at forums and community events.
Develop new referral pathways to improve participant access and support.
Program Growth & Opportunity Development
Identify, pursue, and implement opportunities for new programs, services, or partnerships.
Research and secure grants, sponsorships, and additional funding sources.
Lead or co-lead the rollout of new initiatives, ensuring effective delivery and evaluation.
Client Engagement & Onboarding
Act as the initial key contact for new clients, welcoming and guiding them through a structured onboarding process (first 3-4 weeks).
Develop and implement onboarding plans, ensuring clear communication of services, expectations, and client goals.
Conduct onboarding check-ins, gather client feedback, and address early-stage concerns to support strong foundational relationships.
Organise and action internal handover of the new client to the relevant ongoing service team after a successful 3–4-week settlement, including comprehensive file notes and client feedback.
Support periodic reviews on client experience and satisfaction post-handover.
Business Development, Marketing & Visibility
Implement outreach and communication strategies to raise organisational profile.
Create and deliver presentations, proposals, and impact reports for stakeholders.
Monitor competitor activity and local service trends to identify market opportunities.
Organisational Support
Take lead on outreach and development projects, supporting capacity and relieving pressure on service delivery teams.
Complete required business development and compliance documentation.
Provide progress reports, analysis, and recommendations to management.
Key Selection Criteria - Essential
Demonstrated business development/community partnership experience in the disability or community sector
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Successful track record securing partnerships
Strong organisational, analytical, and project management skills
Understanding of NDIS compliance and service development
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
Experience rolling out community programs
Marketing and communications background
