The Role
Course Coordinator Role (part-time role, 0.6 FTE)
- Salary: $95,000–$105,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications
- 2 year fixed term opportunity with potential to transition to a continuing appointment, subject to performance and organisational needs
As a Course Coordinator, you will provide day-to-day academic coordination and student support within your allocated course(s). Working closely with (Senior) Program Managers, lecturers, professional staff, and students, you will act as a key point of contact, ensuring that students receive timely advice, guidance, and encouragement throughout their studies.
The role is focused on ensuring the quality and consistency of course delivery, monitoring student progression, and contributing to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices. You will also play a role in course reviews, curriculum enhancements, and building strong industry connections to keep programs relevant and engaging.
In addition to your coordination duties, you will have opportunities to contribute to teaching and scholarship activities, helping to grow your own expertise while also strengthening the academic culture of the institution.
Key Accountabilities:
- Student Engagement and Support: Provide academic advice, progression guidance, and consultation for students. Act as a consistent point of contact, helping students navigate their studies and achieve success.
- Academic Operations: Monitor enrolments, progression, and outcomes in your course(s). Implement interventions to support students at risk, working closely with the Student Success Centre and Program Managers.
- Course Coordination: Ensure course delivery is consistent across campuses and teaching teams. Support Program Managers with timetabling, retention outreach, and monitoring academic policies and procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Contribute to course and subject review cycles, support curriculum improvements, and ensure compliance with institutional and external quality standards.
- Industry Engagement: Liaise with industry partners and guest speakers to integrate real-world perspectives into courses and enhance employability outcomes.
- Teaching and Scholarship: Undertake teaching duties as required, contribute to learning and teaching innovation, and participate in scholarly activities that support professional growth and strengthen ICMS’s academic reputation.
- Community Contribution: Represent the course at orientation, open days, and information sessions, contributing to the broader academic and student life of ICMS.
Selection Criteria:
- A Master’s degree (e.g. MBA) or PhD (or PhD candidature) in a relevant Business discipline.
- Experience teaching and supporting diverse student cohorts.
- Academic coordination or administration experience in higher education.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Industry experience and engagement with professional associations.
- Commitment to scholarly and professional growth.
