Position Summary

Lead Institute of Higher Education (LIHE) has established the position of Course Director to work collaboratively with the Dean to ensure overall coherence of teaching operations and organisational priorities, supporting the continuing viability and regulatory compliance of the Institute. As an ambitious, new provider in Sydney’s higher Education landscape, this role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced academic leader to embed, refine, and enhance our policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality standards for the recently accredited Bachelor of Business Administration. (AQF Level 7).

The Course Director will play a strategic leadership role in continuously improving our teaching and learning frameworks, ensuring compliance, and fostering innovation in business education. It is a position in which an ambitious individual will have the necessary support to leverage existing policies and frameworks to drive excellence and long-term impact.

The Course Director reports to the Dean and is part of the Executive Management Team of the Institute. The Executive Management Team consists of the Dean, Course Directors, Student Support Manager, Librarian, Marketing Manager, and Finance Manager.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the Course Director’s position include:

Academic Leadership: Provide academic leadership in teaching and learning for the Bachelor of Business Administration offered by LIHE.

Course Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure course compliance with TEQSA regulations and relevant accreditation requirements in business education.

Curriculum and Teaching Strategy: Develop and implement evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Teaching Responsibilities: Teach units within an area of expertise, demonstrating innovation and engagement for students from diverse backgrounds.

Student Portal Management: Help ensure that the learning management system (LMS) and Student Portal, provides timely and appropriate access to unit materials for students.

Timetabling and Scheduling: Work with the Student Support Manager and Dean to develop term timetables.

Student Progress Monitoring: Ensure academic staff monitor student progress, attendance, and provide early intervention reports for at-risk students.

Student and Staff Satisfaction Reporting: Oversee and report on student satisfaction surveys and staff satisfaction surveys each term, contributing to continuous course improvement.

Resource Availability: Ensure prescribed and recommended texts are sourced for students and staff before the commencement of each term.

Assessment, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Compliance Reporting: Prepare and provide feedback to support TEQSA compliance and maintain high academic standards, including:

Reports from staff at the end of each term are to be consolidated into a report for the Dean covering student enrolments, progressions, completions, and attrition rates.

Reports from staff at the end of each term are to be consolidated into a report for the Dean detailing student results, assessment moderation outcomes, and academic integrity issues.

Reports from staff at the end of each term are to be consolidated into a report for the Dean including student evaluations, teaching effectiveness reviews, and unit/course improvement plans.

Reports from staff at the end of each term are to be consolidated into a report for the Dean ensuring moderation processes are aligned with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Reports from staff at the end of each term are to be consolidated into an annual course performance report for the Dean - aligned with TEQSA's quality assurance framework.

Continuous improvement action plans based on student cohort feedback, unit evaluations, and staff feedback are to be provided to the Dean at the end of each term.

Industry and Professional Engagement: Develop and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders, professional bodies, and education networks to support LIHE's strategic objectives. This extends beyond placements to include research collaborations, policy engagement, and workforce development initiatives.

Mentorship and Professional Development: Mentor academic staff in digital literacy, innovative teaching practices, and business-related education pedagogy.

Collaboration and Leadership: Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff and lead teams to achieve planned outcomes.

Selection Criteria

Essential

A doctoral qualification (PhD, DBA, or equivalent) in Business Administration, Information Systems, Hospitality Management, Accounting, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated understanding of TEQSA and regulatory compliance in higher education.

A proven track record of research projects, scholarly activities, and publications related to business education.

Demonstrated experience in curriculum development within higher education.

The ability to build academic teams, manage budgets, and oversee course delivery.

Experience in ensuring courses remain relevant and aligned with industry needs.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning, with a strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy and student-centred learning.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire students and staff.

Experience of relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in developing industry connections for student placements and work-integrated learning.

National Police Check and current Working.

100 points of ID verification.
