The Head of Operations & Quality Control is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency and product quality at Nomadic' s caravan production on the Sunshine Coast.
This role ensures all caravans meet strict quality standards before leaving the factory, while also managing inventory, goods inwards/outwards, and supply chain processes.
Working in parallel with the production supervisor & production team, this role acts as an independent control point to ensure products are built to the highest standard and that supply and logistics systems support growth.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control
Conduct thorough inspections of caravans during & exiting production against company QC checklists.
Identify defects or issues, ensuring rectification before completion/delivery.
Maintain records of quality control checks for compliance and continuous improvement.
Work with production teams to raise and resolve recurring issues.
Work with Managing Director to Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Operations & Inventory Management
Manage all goods inwards/outwards, ensuring stock is receipted, stored, and dispatched correctly.
Oversee ordering of components, spare parts, and materials, maintaining optimum stock levels.
Implement accurate stock management systems (manual or digital) with traceability.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and resolve supply issues.
Maintain compliance with WHS standards in storage and inventory processes.
Administration & Reporting
Provide weekly reports to management on production quality, defects, rectifications, and inventory status.
Ensure all warranty-sensitive components (batteries, appliances, suspension etc) are logged with serial numbers.
Monitor supplier performance and recommend alternatives where quality or reliability falls short.
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience in operations, production management, or quality control (manufacturing preferred).
Strong knowledge of inventory systems and supply chain processes.
Technical understanding of caravan/RV systems (12V, 240V, gas, plumbing) highly desirable.
High attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with production teams, suppliers, and management.
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001) desirable
