About the Role
As the Workplace Relations Manager, you’ll lead a small team of Employee Relations Advisors and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality employee and industrial relations advice and support across the organisation. This national role provides strategic and hands-on support to leaders and internal stakeholders on complex case management, investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances, and broader ER/IR initiatives.
You’ll also work closely with General Counsel and external legal providers on escalated matters and represent the organisation at courts and tribunals, including the Fair Work Commission.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a high-impact Workplace Relations Manager role with a well-regarded not-for-profit organisation based just north of Melbourne’s CBD.
We’re seeking a confident and capable leader to join our People & Culture team for a 6-month fixed-term contract to backfill the current incumbent who is being seconded to a project role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a small, high-performing ER team
- Manage complex and high-risk ER/IR matters and investigations
- Provide advice on EBAs, Awards (preferably SCHADS), and legislative compliance
- Support organisational change initiatives with sound industrial relations advice
- Build leadership capability across the business via coaching and training
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of P&C policies, systems, and frameworks
You will bring:
- Significant experience in workplace relations, ideally within the not-for-profit, health, or community services sectors
- Strong leadership and coaching capability
- Excellent knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial frameworks (including SCHADS Award preferred)
- Experience managing investigations, grievances, and complex employee relations cases
- Strong written and verbal communication, with sound judgement and influencing skills
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and empathy
